The following project was a collaboration with sports reporter Matthew Rios while I was a photo editor at the Columbia Missourian.
The story was about a Missouri student, Louie Lovelace, who raced B-Mod racecars. He had suffered a devestating crash on Friday, September 13, 2019, but had walked away with only minor injuries. About a mont later, after builidng a new car, he was set to race again in the final race of the 2019 season.
Rios first brought the story to my attention via photo request and soon, photographer Hillary Tan jumped on board. Tan photographed and videographed the entire project himself. I helped assign, pitch, storyboard and oversea the project. I selected the final images and oversaw the production of a short narrative video about Lovelace as well as helped piece together the audio interview into a cohesive storyline. Once visual production was complete, I worked with design on the print layout.
